LITTLE TIGERS NURSERY, LONDON

Referencing the Montessori classroom style, we have developed an attractive hands-on learning environment, with a clean, minimal aesthetic and simple decoration.

THE PROJECT

With a concept based on a jungle theme, this project was the full fit-out of a new nursery within a new build development village in London.

CLIENT: LITTLE NURSERY GROUP
PROJECT: CAT B
DURATION: 10 WEEKS
CONTRACT: DESIGN & BUILD

HOW WE DID IT

The journey starts from the entrance doors. Each room is individually designed with a focal point. Colour and texture play an important role. New facilities include:

  • Baby play room
  • 2 year old play room
  • Pre-school room
  • Climbing wall
  • Sleep room with cloud lighting
  • Sensory wall
  • Jungle themed library and play area
  • Parklet sitting/lying areas
  • Feature rooms with associated messy play, sink and storage

THE RESULT

We have developed an attractive hands-on learning environment, with a clean, minimal aesthetic and simple decoration. Display has been kept to localised areas to avoid overcrowding the classroom.

Flexible timber furniture and jungle themed motifs help to bring natural influences into the classrooms. Large leaves hang from the ceiling providing acoustic control and referencing nature. These natural references help to promote the Danish concept of Hygge focusing on emotional well-being, togetherness, and friendship.

The classrooms have been kept orderly through the introduction of large built-in storage walls, giving staff control over what activities can be laid out and kept fully accessible to the children.

Flexibility has been ensured through mobile furniture which can be used to create zones for self-directed activities, hands-on learning, and collaborative play. Helping to create a space children can feel comfortable exploring with confidence.

Soft lighting and interesting features such as the central tree and secret door through a dressing up wardrobe help to bring a sense of identity and fun to the environment.
